Mardi Gras Jazz Concert

Tired of hunkering down inside against the onslaught of this particularly frigid winter? Not looking forward to giving up your favorite things for Lent?

Then join us Saturday evening, March 1st, at 7:00pm, for a gala Fat Tuesday style celebration at St. Paul's for a rousing celebration of New Orleans style music presented by the Mardi Gras Classic Jazz Quartet. With Dan Hartzer on the trumpet, Dan Stevenson with his clarinet, Jamie Poulsen tickling the ivories and Mike Short providing plenty of oompah on the tuba, the band willl feature traditional jazz and gospel favorites of New Orleans, made famous by such greats as Louis Armstrong, including Struttin' With Some BarbecueBourbon Street ParadeJust a Closer Walk With Thee, and When the Saints Go Marching In.

With music like this you would have to agree that it will be a winter-doldrum buster! This concert, presented by Arts@StPaul's, is free of charge, and is held at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 201 E. Church Street, in Marshalltown.

Christmas Concert 7:00pm

A CANDLELIGHT CHRISTMAS


A musical celebration of this holiday season. This concert will be held in the acoustically magic, candle-lit sanctuary of St. Paul's and include a variety of musical styles.

Produced by our Resident Artist, Hudson Lourenco-Feld, it will include stirring pieces on our church organ. The Marshalltown High School Holiday Singers will perform a program of carols under the direction of Amy Ose. Our recently acquired grand piano will be put to good use by local teacher and pianist Amber Smitherman, by brilliant young MHS student Izaiah Wilder and by our Sunday musician Sharon Morrical. Tenor Nick Lindborg will join Sharon in a medley of Christmas favorites.

We hope to see you Thursday, December 19th, at 7:00pm at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 201 E. Church Street, Marshalltown. The event is presented free of charge.

Classical & Contemporary Concert

Today we present an apres olympics celebration of French and continental piano, vocal and organ music. Hosted by Arts@StPaul’s, the concert will feature local pianist Amber Smitherman, operatic vocalist Barbara Reiter, Nick Lindborg and our Resident Artist Hudson Lourenco-Feld performing a variety of classical and contemporary pieces.

This concert begins at 3:00pm, and is free of charge.
